A fiduciary of a decedent’s estate (i.e. executor) must file form 1041 (Income Tax Return for Estates and Trusts) for a domestic estate that has gross income, for the tax year, of $600 or more. A fiduciary of a trust (i.e. trustee) must file form 1041, for the trust, if the trust has any taxable income or gross income of $600, or more, for the tax year.
